Drawsigner — An Evening with Von Glitschka
Friday, March 25, 2011 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Do you ever find yourself stuck on a creative problem and wonder how the master designers do this?

Join us March 25th as we host the master of vector, illustrative designer Von Glitschka. Geared for both students and veterans alike, Von will walk us through his systematic creative process that any designer can adapt into their own work flow and begin to utilize immediately in order to produce better work on a consistent basis.

All tickets go up to $25 on March 18 so register today and receive early bird pricing.

Von is principal of Glitschka Studios and has worked in the communication arts industry for over 23 years. His work reflects the symbiotic relationship between design and illustration. This duality of skills within his own creative arsenal, inspired him to coin the phrase and title of "Illustrative Designer."

"My talks are a practical and humorous narrative of our industry, laced with relevant experience, creative insight, sarcasm, geeky references, and inspiring conclusions." —Von Glitschk

Workshop with Von Glitschka
Saturday, March 26, 2011 from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

"Our industry may be digitally driven but ideas are still best developed in analog form."

—Von Glitschka

In his article, Don't Be A Tooler, Von Glitschka reminds us how important drawing is to our identities as designers. In an increasingly digital world, it's all to tempting to let your design school drawing skills be replaced by point, click, point, click. Next thing you know, you feel like you've become a "Zombie Designer." Sound familiar?

As a follow-up to his Drawsigner talk on Friday night, Von will be leading a hands-on workshop on Saturday morning, March 26 at Meredith College from 9—12noon. Bring your tools, both analog and digital (specifically paper, pencil and your laptop if you have one) and be prepared to get back to your artistic roots as we explore specific techniques that will set you apart from the "Toolers".

AIGA Members are eligible for early workshop registration until March 4 when we open registration to the general public. Only 30 spots are available so don't wait until the last minute!
